I’ve been meaning to get with the times for about a decade now, so it looks like today is the day! 😂 Zoom is new for me as well, but our first several classes have been a huge hit, and I’m confident we can move forward with our virtual music classes on this platform.
Visit Zoom.us from a computer or download the Zoom Cloud Meeting app on your phone, computer, tablet, etc., and create a free account.
At your child’s scheduled class time (all class times are CST), log in and select “join a meeting.” It will ask you for the meeting ID, and that will be the Ms. Clara’s Mini Musicians phone number: 708-704-1716. The required password is the word music.
You can also simply click hereand it will take you directly to the meeting. (You may still need to download the software, so please allow yourself time to familiarize yourself with the app or website before your first class.)
First time users, it will also ask for permission to access your microphone, camera, etc.
If your teacher has opened up the meeting, you will join right away. If not, you will see a message that states “Please wait for the host to start this meeting.”
Once logged in, you can select either “Speaker View” in which all you will see is your music teacher and a small video of yourself and others, or “Gallery View” in which you will see everyone equally. Your choice will not affect anyone else’s view.
So that’s it! There will be other minor details to cover, but that will be easier to do “in person.”
Please keep in mind that we will be using our instruments during class, so now is the time to be creative! Find those plastic spoons for rhythm sticks, build your own sand blocks with blocks and sand paper, turn over a mixing bowl for a drum…we got this!!
Thanks again, everyone! This isn’t ideal, but I’m so grateful to live in a time in which we can still stay connected. Stay healthy, safe, and happy.
